I am so proud to present our Mother’s Day Picnic, featuring the Shibori runner and napkins I hinted at on our Instagram and some absolutely delicious recipes that contributors Taylor and Holly whipped up.
Shibori Runner & Napkin instructions will be posted next week!
Mother’s Day to me is a day where I celebrate the women in my life; My mother, grandmothers, aunts (or Tante’s) sisters and friends. We all mother. And many times that means sacrificing something for someone else. I have immense respect for the women in my life, and the mother’s I see every single day. One day doesn't do all that work justice, but it is definitely a day where we should soak up all the love and appreciation.
So when I worked up this idea about putting together a meal. I felt inspired about doing something for Mother’s Day.
We started the day out gathering flowers, sipping cool beverages and tittering in the kitchen. My little guy rightfully tagged along and he made sure to have his hand in every project we were working on together. Even judging the table display and letting me know what he thought. Though mostly, he was peering in the woods looking for “bad guys” and finding sticks that he then used as weapons.
The sweetest thing was watching the little guy pick flowers to help us tie together some impromptu flower crowns.
When we sat down to our meal, we stretched out on the soft layer of daisies and relished in the beautiful day. May is a perfect month for Mother’s Day. I applaud whoever chose it. Spring gives way to the flowers that often only bloom this time of year, cool weather and sunny skies.
We chose a spot that was tucked into the redwoods but still perfectly situated in the sun. One must find the sun when you live in Northern California. Because despite what Non Californians think, not all of California looks like San Diego, it’s cold up here!
Tangerine Rosemary Mocktail Recipe (Which we decided would taste wonderful with Gin.)
What are your plans for Mother's Day? Who are you celebrating?
Hopefully I'll be back in this daisy field, nestled into the Redwoods, sipping a cocktail. I'll definitely be thinking about the women in my life who trail blazed before me and how I might be a Mother that would honor their hard work.
Happy Mother's Day! (Shouldn't this be a monthly thing?)
