Favorite Holiday Party Entertaining Picks

I love to entertain. Love it. And just about the only thing that frustrates me is not having enough serving trays or cutting boards to showcase all my delicious food.

The roundup below are picks that would have worked perfectly for the Wreath Making Workshop last weekend (I had to run around last minute and find more serving trays for that one).

Don't get stuck like I did this Holiday season - just prepare in advance!

Wreath Making Workshop Recap

The wind was howling, rattling the tin roof. Branches tapped at the window. But, inside the room was warm, inviting and bubbling with conversation. The mood was light and joyous. It was a perfect way to kick off the first week of December and create wreaths for our homes or as gifts for friends and family.

We had local eats, local drinks and two new local businesses. Taylor LeBlanc owner of Chez LeBlanc, and a traveling bar tending extroidinare, joined us and mixed up festive drinks using delicious Wrangletown Cider Company and Humboldt Distillery. Her cocktails were literally Holiday-In-a-Glass and  a huge hit with all the Wreath Makers!

Devon Van Dam was our florist from Moonstone in Bloom. Devon was everyone's favorite person as they tried their best artisitc wreath style. Her #1 assistant, daughter Bella, went around with a sweet holly berry crown and tied perfect bows on any wreath that needed it.

The most fascinating realization of the evening? (by many Wreath Makers!) Every single wreath was very unique. I don't know if I am going to use the snowflake analogy anymore, I am certainly impressed just how unique everyone's wreath was when they were given the freedom to explore. And, this uniqueness may just be my favorite part.

Local eats were served up buffet style on a table draped in canvas drop cloth. I personally liked the drop cloth look - half realistic (we were working with wire cutters and greenery after all.) and half fancy (the way these large canvas drop cloths draped our tables looked very dramatic).

Cypress Grove Chèvre provided us with holiday favorites: Truffle Tremor and Humboldt Fog aged goat milk cheeses.

Truffle Tremor paired with Dick Taylor Chocolate's Ginger Snap (super gingery cookie inside chocolate, folks) was a surprisingly delightful combination! I learned this little trick by going to a Dick Taylor + Cypress Grove Chèvre pairing the night before. Timing worked out perfectly.

Plates pilled high with pomegranates, Chèvre, crackers and chocolate were balanced delicately on chairs and work tables. Mixed beverages were not far behind.
